Monthly Temperature and Light Intensity Update

Writer: Claudio LovatoClaudio Lovato

As part of our ongoing monitoring efforts, we are pleased to provide an update on temperature and light intensity for the month. Overall, there were no significant variations in temperature compared to the previous months. Across all three of our nurseries, we observed only a slight increase in temperature when compared to the data from December and January.

Light Intensity Observations

The most notable change this month was observed in light intensity. In December and January, the average light intensity measured was 1213.8 Lux. However, for the month of February, our data logger recorded an average light intensity of 3313.4 Lux. The highest recorded light intensity, 5756.9 Lux, occurred on February 24th, coinciding with one of the highest temperatures of the month, which reached 29.4°C. These higher light intensity values are most likely attributed to the sunny weather conditions throughout February.

Temperature Data

The highest temperature recorded was 29.5°C, which was consistent over a three-day period from February 24th to February 26th.

Light Intensity VariationsIn terms of light intensity, the highest value of 5756.9 Lux was recorded on February 24th, while the lowest recorded light intensity, 109.8 Lux, occurred on February 28th.

Moving forward, we will continue to monitor these parameters to evaluate their potential effects on the growth and development of our coral fragments, especially considering the interplay between light intensity and temperature.

Next Steps

Our data loggers will be redeployed in the coming month to track further changes. We will continue to monitor and analyze these variables to gain deeper insights into their impact on coral growth.

The accompanying graphs illustrate the average temperature and light intensity for the month.
